OMG Lucy (Tamsen McDonough)! Gosh it was so good to see her in the flesh!  On to the recap!

Davin (Luke MacFarlane) is undercover to catch a warrant when he almost drinks acid.  It was gross the way the guy poured the drink like he was peeing into the cup!  Thank goodness Johnny (Aaron Ashmore) saves him by shooting his drink out of his hand.  Read the warrant Davin! Johnny tranquilized the guy they were after but when he falls asleep the acidic mix rolls away.   Davin and Johnny manages to stop it before it exploded.

On Lucy, Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) theorizes that they should test the green plasma to see what kind of effects it has similar to how Pawter’s mom infected herself with the pathogen last week.  She wonders where they can find some fresh Khlyen (Rob Stewart) green goo to test with.  John and Davin have already been doing some testing using “Mossy.” Yes, John named the mossipede he brought with him from episode 3.  Davin is able to attract and repel the stuff at will.  When it touches his fingers he creates a link with Mossy that was freaky! Davin wanted to vomit after that experience.  I got a little queasy too watching that.

At The Royale bar, our Killjoys discuss the fact that Mossy’s green goo is not going to reveal the answers they need.  However, from that experiment the plasma tries to create a bond with the person connected, which is what Khlyen was trying to do at Arkyn with Davin.  They need to find something similar to Khlyen’s green stuff.  The only way would be on the black market of rare items.  Pree (Thom Allison) overhears their conversation and wants to help.  He may have contacts from his “stylish dictator” aka warlord days.  He and Dutch walk out to discuss it further.  Sabine offers the guys’ drinks. John makes himself scarce so Davin can redeem himself after fainting  the last time he was there.

John calls Pawter (Sarah Power) via holiphone.  She found something about the wall surrounding Old Town via the Council’s archives.  She wants him to check out what the term affarent teleplasticity means as she’s never heard it before.  Pawter knows that lying to Davin and Dutch bothers John, but he reassures her that it will be worth it once the wall comes down.  She slips out an “I love you” but tries to cover it up by adding to that statement.  Pawter slips off her robe just when the connection ends which makes Johnny smile. John wants Lucy to erase his conversation with Pawter.

Pree has a lead in San Romwell (Keon Alexander), collector of rare items. Why does he sound like The Collector from the movie Guardians of the Galaxy? Anyway, his contact mentioned San showing him green magic and thinks it’s what Dutch and the gang are looking for.  Dutch can’t promise she won’t arrest Romwell if Pree gives her the tracking coordinates.  She gets distracted looking at Sabine laugh at something Davin said.   Sigh, the conundrum of not liking anyone else wanting someone that you don’t want aka dwant.  When Pree calls her on it, Dutch tries to change the subject.  Since Romwell trades, Pree warns her to have something interesting to trade with.

Asteroid Ship

While flying through an asteroid field, Dutch tells the boys that San Romwell has 337 warrants across the galaxy for stolen goods. Good grief!  The plan is to get San onto Lucy so they can make a deal where they have control.  John stops as the tracking code puts them in the middle of the asteroid field, however no ship is in site.  Romwell hales them making sure Dutch is game for a trade.  She is.  He welcomes them onto his, wait for it, asteroid ship.  Johnny looks like a little kid in a toy store.  Dutch and Davin roll their eyes at John’s gleefulness.  I think it’s cool too John!

The ship was built around plutonic crystals, providing enough energy to last a really long time. Romwell greets them with three “assistants”.  He shows them into a room filled with keys. Each key has the imprint of the item saved in it. He has a molecular printer that is able to reproduce all of his items at the turn of a key.  Neat!  He shows them the vial of green goo.  John touches the key before Sam puts it back in for the vial to disappear.  Let’s see what Dutch has offered to trade.

Dutch brings Romwell onto Lucy.  He inspects the pieces but so far he’s not impressed because he already has them for the most part.  John is insulted that a limited edition comic wasn’t considered.  Lucy tells John that someone (maybe the assistants?) is trying to hack into her system.  Then Romwell finds Mossy.  He’ll trade with Mossy.  John objects but Dutch wants him to split Mossy in half and give one half to Romwell.  When that happens Sam takes a larger sample of Mossy’s green goo.  Dutch and the guys are pissed at this point but are willing to leave it alone as long as they still get the vial.  Now Romwell wants to renege on their deal even more by telling Dutch he was disappointed she didn’t know how to play the trade game.  When Dutch pulls a gun on him the three assistants just as fast have guns on her.  They are really gynoids, a type of android, very illegal.  With the upper hand, Romwell tells Dutch and the others to get off of Lucy.  As they are leaving John syncs something on his BDD and puts it in his pocket.

Now Romwell wants to trade Dutch’s sitara (a musical instrument) and her story for her freedom while he keeps the Jaqobi brothers.  Davin starts fighting but hurts his hand, because you know, gynoid’s made of metal and all that. The droid has him in a chokehold and the only way she lets go is Romwell telling her telepathically to do so.  If he’s attacked his robots go into kill mode.  John and Dutch give each other looks like they are signaling each other to try to escape at the first opportunity.  Dutch reluctantly takes the deal on the condition that after the story all of them would be able to leave, not just her.  Dutch goes with Romwell while the robots babysit John and Davin.

In Romwell’s room he marvels that he hasn’t seen the instrument in a long time. He wants to see Dutch’s story by using a device that can link her visual cortex with his temporarily.  It looks like the experience is similar to a high.  John and Davin are escorted further into the asteroid ship by the droids. He finds the peaches Sabine was telling him about.  One of the droids tell them they need to be naked for sterilization.  She starts by taking off Davin’s shirt.  John has a plan but it will require Davin getting his butt kicked again.

It’s time for a story:

Once upon a time, Dutch’s family was very wealthy on a far-away moon at the edge of the galaxy.  As a little girl Dutch was asked to join a harem on one of the planets she orbited.  She missed her family full of brothers and sisters (hmmm, wonder if one was a twin).  Alone, she was taught to compete for the hand of a prince.  To prepare her, her dad sent a teacher, Khlyen.  He gave her the sitara as a gift and taught her how to play it so she could win the prince.

Before Dutch continues she asks Romwell for his own story about how he got the plasma.  Some visitors came to his planet with a ship that looked organic.  It was made partially of the green stuff.  He just started collecting.  He traded for the plasma and left his planet.  There’s obviously more to both stories.

Lucy!

One of the droids tells Davin to get into the sterilization chamber, which will copy his form but kill him at the same time.  Right, not happening today.  Davin has plans.  Time to implement John’s plan!  Davin attacks one droid while John tries to put his BDD on the droid attacking him.  He’s successful and the droid stops attacking him and stops the droid trying to get at Davin.  John’s proud of himself for hacking into a network that doesn’t exist in the Quad.  When the hacked droid talks, she sounds like Lucy!  According to John this is a most basic form of Lucy, like an app.  She can hold off the other droids for about 5 minutes.  Davin takes the peaches and is like, “let’s get Dutch and bounce!”

Dutch never got a chance to sing for her prince while he plays the instrument.  Davin tells her via the comm link they are trying to find a way back to Lucy so hurry up.  She offers Romwell the chance to play the sitara while she sings as bait.  He takes it saying he mastered playing when he was young.  Dutch starts singing while Romwell plays.  It’s an eery but light melody.  Romwell has a vision of marrying Dutch, having a kid, and growing old together.  It was sweet!  Dutch has reminded him of a life he could’ve had.

Lucy is struggling to lead John and Davin out back to their ship with really old schematics.  The other bots catch up with them wondering why Lucy isn’t connected with them.  They start shooting.  John updates Dutch.  Romwell is feeling a little more trippy than usual.  Well the sitara’s strings were poisoned with a paralytic agent that Dutch is immune to.  Khlyen taught her to kill and play instruments.  At least he’s a well-rounded teacher.  While Romwell is feeling the effects of the poison, Dutch takes one of the strings and chokes him with it.  She continues her story about killing for her freedom with Khlyen promising it will end on her wedding to the prince.  Unfortunately, her prince was also a target so Dutch had enough.  She will do what she has to do in order to always be free.  With Romwell now dead, it’s time to leave.

The droids shut down when Romwell dies.  Dutch needs to get the plasma but Romwell didn’t have the key on him.  She will have to play needle in the haystack in the key room.  She knows the general direction he got the key from so she starts trying each key that she finds.  One of the items that pop up is a BIG spider.  She thinks it’s hopeless until she notices a fingerprint.  She has her BDD compare DNA with John’s since he touched the key.  The search seems to be going better.

John, Davin, and Lucy get lost.  The droids catch up with them again in kill mode! How did they become awake?  Lucy is adorable when she gets excited about shooting the other bots!  Yay! Dutch has found the vial and putting it in her bag when Romwell walks in.  How is he alive?! That’s how the droids are awake then I guess.  Dutch and Romwell fight.  She thinks the man is Level 6 but he denies it.  He’s heard of them though.  Did the visitors on his planet hook him up with the green stuff? Nope.  So how is he still alive darn it?!  Romwell explains while Dutch has him in a chokehold.  He betrayed his father, who was a lord, and the rest of his planet for his freedom from the invaders.  They put him through all kinds of experiments.  He regrets it every day.  He found an outlaw hospital where he was healed with hakmod nanites.  It must’ve worked because he’s 432 years old! Geez!

Surprisingly he doesn’t want to kill Dutch.  He gives her a hair comb, the first thing he traded.  He wants her to stay because he wants to become a better man but Dutch doesn’t want to.  John lets her know on comms that the droids are on the rampage and they don’t have any ammo.  She’s on her way.  The droids are almost in the room with the sterilization chamber.  Lucy caresses John’s cheek.  She’s always wanted to know what that felt like.  Before she dies she also wants to kiss John for data purposes. John is actually considering it while Davin is rolling his eyes.

Lucy John Kiss Killjoys

Sparkles Lucy

She gives the reason that this may be his only chance to kiss a robot.  Being the tech geek that he is, John takes her offer.   He gives her a peck on the lips but Lucy is like no, I need a kiss buddy.  She gives him a real kiss.  She produces sparkles for effect.  Her curiosity satisfied, Lucy sacrifices herself so Davin and John can get away.  I wanted to cry seeing her get destroyed!  They run into Dutch and San.  They make it back to Lucy but the hatch won’t close because the gosh darn droids are trying to hack her. John goes to manually override the hatch so it can close and the others will cause a distraction.  Romwell can’t control them any longer.  Using a piece of the plutonic crystal and the vial of green plasma,(much to Dutch’s dismay), Davin creates something he can control.  He tries to shoot the crystal at the droids but it bounces all over the place and at that speed the asteroid will blow up.  John overrides the hatch so they can leave. Romwell has to go with them or die.  They make it off the asteroid just before it explodes.

Davin feels good about himself after everything that’s happened to him since his army days.  He thinks what Khlyen did to him may provide them a way to defeat Level 6 soldiers.  Dutch suggests using all that positive energy on a certain bartender in Old Town.

Romwell will have to start from scratch but he feels more free than before.  Dutch decides not to arrest him and thanks to Bellus (Nora McLellan) provides him a new identity. He shows her an extra copy of the vial.  Oh thank goodness!  He’s heard that the same invaders that came to his planet are making their way across the galaxy.  They are probably heading toward the Quad.  Dutch and the others may find a way to defeat them by finding out how the green plasma works.  San advises Dutch to be happy when she can, because “not everyone gets a happy ending.”

Let’s Get it On!

Dutch visits Alvis (Morgan Kelly).  They don’t say anything just immediately start making out.  On Lucy, John gives Pawter an update on their earlier conversation.  He was able to find out what teleplasticity is.  It’s EMR used to disrupt thought patterns.  Still don’t know what that has to do with the wall.  When he gets to his quarters he finds Pawter standing over the holiphone.  He thought he forgot to turn it off.  He found one of the company engineers that worked on the wall hiding out in Old Town.  Pawter finds that weird considering people of Old Town hate anyone that works for The Company.  She steps closer to John, surprising him.  She’s not a hologram!  Since Pawter has a private ship, she was able to slip away to have some alone time with her boyfriend, courtesy of Lucy.  John’s fine with that!  Back to Dutch and Alvis, who has finished doing the do. Alvis shows her a book he was looking at that explains about the basis of the Scarback religion.  He thinks that the reason they cut themselves is because they want to prove they don’t have the green elixir that grants eternal life and not because of penance.

Davin Sabine kiss

The next morning Davin is up with Sabine.  He shows her the peaches he got from the asteroid ship.  She eats a slice Davin gives her.  Time to get down and dirty ladies and gents! Davin and Sabine are going at it.  Sabine is so happy she starts crying green tears and starts seizing.  Davin turns her over and she’s coughing up green plasma.  It’s pouring all around her!

To top it off this is where the show ends. Son of a gun!

Thoughts and Theories

Okay so the plasma or the mossipedes may still be getting used by a group of people bent on taking over galaxies one planet at a time.  My guess is the reason The Nine are going ape is because this same mysterious group have targeted them.  How much does the Company know?  What about Khlyen? Is this why he created Level 6?  As a way to combat the invaders when they hit the Quad?  Why isn’t the Nine families even warning any of the other planets about this? The Scarbacks it seems like were also in their own way trying to immune themselves against the plasma.  Could this also be why the army are doing their experiments?  Both people like Davin and Khlyen could be used against these invaders.  So many questions!

Tamsen McDonough, it is so nice to finally see you on screen! My shipping heart twitterpatted when John and Lucy finally kissed! Of course John wouldn’t waste an opportunity to kiss a robot! Davin and Dutch’s reaction to John geeking out about the asteroid ship was soo cute!  Also Davin’s face when Lucy was propositioning John was priceless! I enjoyed the Killjoys interaction with each other this episode.  It was like a little family.  So disappointing that unless someone makes another bot we won’t see Lucy in the flesh again!  There was just alot of great one-liners and cute moments between the main characters throughout the episode.

I actually liked San Rockwell and hoped to see him again soon.  He gave us the gift of seeing Dutch sing!  At least he gave us a little bit more information about the potential invaders.  With him always wanting to hear the story behind the item he trades for it reminds me of the king from the book One Thousand and One Nights.

So what the HELL just happened to Sabine, is she even still alive?  Is she Level 6?  Poor Davin!  Everyone else got a good experience except him!  Was he using protection?  It’s so frustrating that we have to wait a week to find out all kinds of stuff!

What did you think of the episode? Sound off in the comments!
