Blerds On Nerds
Creators: Matt and Llana
Blerds on Nerds started out as an idea during a short cab ride to my first San Diego Comic-Con. I noticed when I got off the plane that even though I was surrounded by people that shared my love for all things “geek” there were very few that looked like me; black. In the world of comics, movies, and television, black nerds or ‘Blerds’ have been under-represented or not represented at all and that’s where we, Blerds on Nerds, come in. We want to help represent black nerd culture. To cultivate it and leverage it to a level that cannot be ignored. With Blerds on Nerds we are doing this! To convey not only news, reviews, dialogue, etc., but our perspective as well. We are Black. We are Nerd. We #SpreadtheNerd

Shawn “Fangirl S” hails from Northwest Indiana although often says she’s from Chicago-adjacent. She is a “fangirl” to her core attending multiple comic and entertainment conventions year. Her love of multiple genres in tv, movies and books has her quite happy in her nerdom. She was lucky enough to stumble upon DVMPE while coming down from a fangasm at C2E2 and realized that is exactly the place she belonged. She has since found many people with the same nerdy tendencies and has branched out into multiple platforms to discuss everything that makes her “fangirl”.
