Comic-Con 2016 movie and television panel announcements (so far…)

With under 2 weeks left until San Diego Comic-Con kicks off a lot of news as been coming out, lots of panel info has been leaking out. So lets talk about some it, why don’t we.

Lets start with televsion announcements:

Warner Brothers Television announced in a press release (http://www.warnerbros.com/studio/news/warner-bros-television-group-set-bring-historic-21-shows-comic-con-international-july-20) that a lot of their shows (from various networks) are coming. From a press release they said “The 100,” “Arrow,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Blindspot,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Flash,” “Gotham,” “iZOMBIE,” “The Originals,” “Supergirl,” “Supernatural,” “Teen Titans Go!” and “The Vampire Diaries” are all back in San Diego for panels throughout the convention. As well as on preview night (Wednesday of SDCC) WB TV is once again doing a block of tv show screenings. This year they are world-premiere screenings  “Riverdale,” “Powerless,” “People of Earth,” “Frequency” and “Time After Time” and an advance look at a new episode of “Teen Titans Go!” and the debut of “Justice League Action.”

Marvel Television have said they are bringing “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Luke Cage” (making the first time a Netflix TV show will appear) as well a panel about the various Marvel Animation shows.

Fox Television will be bringing quite a few shows including “American Dad”, “Bob’s Burgers”, “Family Guy”, “The Last Man on Earth”, “Salem”, “Scream Queens”, “The Simpsons” all returning along with newer (or restarted) shows like “The Rocky Horror Picture Showv, “The Exorcist”, “Prison Break” and “Son of Zorn”.

HBO and Cinemax shows that are scheduled to appear are “Silicon Valley”, “Game of Thrones”, as well as 2 new shows “Vice Principals” and “Outcast”.

FX will be back again, but this year with only 2 shows “Archer” and “The Strain”.

MTV has said they will be bringing only “Teen Wolf” this year.

SyFy have only announced one show (so far) from their large catalog of shows, that one being the new “Van Helsing” show.

Starz are bringing back “Ash vs Evil Dead” (you can read recaps of each episode here) and new this year “American Gods”.

History Channel are bringing “Viking” back again.

A&E are returning with “Bates Motel”.

Comic-Con HQ are making their SDCC debut and bringing along “Con-Man” (along with stars).

AMC has said (not a shock) that both “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead” (our recap of the premiere episode is here) are both coming again, along with “Preacher” (which was also at WonderCon and you can read our recap of the premiere episode here)

BBC America’s slate includes “Orphan Black” (which will be it’s final panel at SDCC and we do a weekly podcast of which you can find here) and brand new series “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency”.

NBC is bringing a few series this year, including “Grimm” (which we’ve covered quite a bit over the past few seasons here) returning as well as a sneak peek of “Emerald City” (which was featured on the outside of the Los Angeles Convention Center during WonderCon) and “Timeless”.

In terms of movies, quite a few studios have announced they are bringing movies including ‘Valerian’ from Europacorp, ‘The Killing Joke’ from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (which is making it’s world premiere), ‘Doctor Strange’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ from Marvel Studios, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’, ‘Suicide Squad’, and Kong: Skull Island from Warner Brothers.

The full schedule will start coming out this week (Thursday the 7th will see the official schedule for both Wednesday and Thursday of SDCC, Friday the 8th will see the Friday SDCC schedule, and so on each day).
